Edward Prorok, CA

Assurance

When Edward (Eddy) Prorok first arrived at Fuller Landau LLP as a summer student, his expectation was to stick around maybe five years and move on to something else. But he admits the respect he received from Fuller Landau LLP and the relationship he developed with clients made it hard to leave – and he is still here, 25 years later.

“I see myself as an advisor, quasi-lawyer, accountant, business consultant, and entrepreneur,” remarks Eddy, an audit partner whose areas of concentration include real-estate, manufacturing, imports, even some work in the non-profit sector. “Yes, the glue to it is all the figures, the tax-filing. But I don’t spend a ton of my time with financial statements and presentations or standards – it’s more dealing with financial and tax planning and day-to-day advisory services for my clients.”

Considering the complexity of business and taxation, and the constant changes that occur, Eddy contends it is important to be more of an advisor than an accountant to help clients achieve their goals. He also believes the combination of being able to draw on the resident expertise of the Fuller Landau LLP team, and the leeway younger employees were given as they worked their way up, have been invaluable assets in meeting such challenges.

“Sometimes people look at me when there’s an aggravation or deadline, and they say, ‘You look very calm.’ No one wants a setback, but you become pretty rugged over the years. You’ve seen a lot of seasons, and you can deal with whatever comes along.”
